Evening for Women Leaders is a space to discuss issues affecting women and girls

Women Leaders in different institutions are reflecting on how they can contribute to reducing domestic conflicts &violence which are leading to divorces, murdering cases among spouses and cases of suicide & other effects to the family.

Evening for Women Leaders is a space to discuss issues affecting women and girls and agree on strategies to address them by reflecting on strategies to curb intimate partner violence and teenage pregnancy issues.

Isabelle Kalihangabo ,RIB Deputy Secretary General reminded other consequences of domestic conflicts and violence including school drop-out and other human security issues we are facing. Efforts should be oriented in prevention through targeting family in conflicts before incidences are occurred.

A report released on 23th November,2018 indicates that nationwide divorce cases filed to court 2018 increased by 1900 moving from 69 in 2017 to 1311 in 2018. Numbers of marriage dissolution are increasing. Imagine the consequences behind to the family ?

Last year, this forum pledged to encourage effective participation of women and girls in planning and budgeting and doing advocacy to include interventions that address GBV in Imihigo. Much effort must be put on prevention and men engagement will bring a strong contribution.
