Empowering Women in Informal Cross Border Trade project Success story.

Through the EWICBT Project, PFTH continues to empower Women cross border traders through social-economic activities to various organized groups of women such as :
“Haguruka dukore saving group & Abakundumurimo saving group“

HAGURUKA DUKORE SAVING GROUP & ABAKUNDA UMURIMO SAVING GROUP

We are some of the groups of 49 WICBTs (RUSIZI) and 38 WICBTS (RUBAVU), respectively located in Mururu sector of Rusizi district and in Gisenyi Sector, Rubavu District in western province. We are glad that we were selected among EWICBT project beneficiaries and supported by PFTH/EWICBT funded by the Embassy of Kingdom of Netherland. Before we were working individually with our very low capacity in doing business just for our daily living purpose. With the project, we had and improved our knowledge and skills on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and cooperative management. We can easily calculate incomes, profit and losses as well as properly fill our financial activities cash books on a regular basis. We have now our eyes and mindset opened, our daily lives improved, we do savings, and have an operational bank account opened at SACCO-MURURU for some and others at IMF-UNGUKA Bank. We really appreciate PFTH and the project which brought us together and we can see our Business growing.

In total 65 Cooperatives of WICBTs have been empowered in socio-economic and financial activities. They are now strong in doing business, their savings increased.
