Organizational Development & CSO’s Capacity Strengthening
Organizational Development and CSO’s Capacity Strengthening approach contributes to the sustainable development of CSOs in Rwanda by assessing and improving their internal governance and management systems, building capacity and trust towards their constituency and stakeholders, and increasing their capacity to effectively play their role of representing their constituencies and engage in policy dialogue and negotiation with power holders leading to a social contract on behalf of citizens and transformative development.
The CSOs’ capacity strengthening framework emphasizes 8 capacity areas considered as characteristics of strong CSO actors :
1. Leadership
2. Strategic management
3. Financial Management
4. Governance
5. Service delivery
6. Advocacy
7. Sustainability
8. Gender Equality
In addition, the focus is on strengthening civil society, including grassroots social movements and networks of women, especially on conducting evidence-based advocacy, increasing participation by women and girls, and strengthening relationships with local and central-level government for policy dialogues.
